Rescue Operations Finished After Utkal Express Derailment in North India

Rescue operations in the area of train derailment in northern India has been completed and local authorities have started restoration works, Indian Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said Saturday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Utkal Express running between the Indian cities of Haridwar and Puri derailed at 05:50 p.m. local time (12:20 GMT). According to media reports, between 10 and 20 people were killed and 100-150 injured as a result of the accident.

"Rescue operations have been completed. All injured shifted to hospital. Restoration work will start now. Still monitoring situation closely," Prabhu said on Twitter.
