MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The position is currently available after the White House announced the dismissal of US financier Anthony Scaramucci from the job on Monday.
Axios news outlet reported late on Saturday citing top White House sources, that though Miller was not the top candidate for the role, Trump’s Chief Strategist Stephen Bannon approved of Miller's candidacy.
Miller has attracted the attention of the US media after he had defeated a CNN reporter Jim Acosta in an argument over a bill seeking to cut US legal immigration to the United States at a press briefing on Wednesday.
Scaramucci's dismissal followed The New Yorker magazine publication of a reporter's telephone conversation with then-Comminucations Director on July 27 in which Scaramucci made a number of negative remarks about other White House officials including Bannon.
