A group of anti-Brexit activists is expected to hold a number of mass rallies against the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union during fall, Evening Standard newspaper reported Sunday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the newspaper, the People’s March for Europe group backed by a number of celebrities, such as renowned actor Patrick Stewart, is expected to host a large march in London in September to oppose the country's forthcoming leaving the 28-nation bloc.

The march, which is expected to be attended by thousands of people, would not be the only event of the group within the framework of the so-called Autumn of Discontent that would include marches in Europe, political party conferences and installing anti-Brexit stalls in the centers of the UK cities.

Following the 2016 referendum, the United Kingdom has launched the process of leaving the European Union. During the vote, the majority of Britons supported the withdrawal from the European Union, however almost half of the voters cast their ballots to stay in the 28-nation bloc.
