MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On June 14, a huge fire started at the 24-floor Grenfell tower high-rise block in North Kensington in London, engulfing the entire building and trapping almost 120 families inside.

At least 80 people have been confirmed dead as a result of the fire, which prompted mass demonstrations in London over the way local authorities dealt with the implications of the fire. The majority of the people that lived in the house were immigrants from the Middle East or Africa.

"After an initial assessment of that information, the officer leading the investigation has today notified the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the Kensington and Chelsea Tenancy Management Organisation that there are reasonable grounds to suspect that each organisation may have committed the offence of corporate manslaughter under the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007," the Metropolitan Police said in a letter to Grenfell residents, as quoted by BBC.
