Earlier in the day, the Belarusian president arrived in Kiev to discuss bilateral relations with Poroshenko.
"We have discussed cooperation in the interest of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. We [Belarus] are delivering humanitarian aid to these republics and we would like to work without intermediaries using the shortest route, and this route is through Ukraine. I have asked president Poroshenko to do it together in case if is interested in the matter and if our humanitarian convoys coincide," Lukashenko said.
The two leaders already discussed the developments in eastern Ukraine during their telephone conversation on March 24 and in person during a meeting on April 26 in Chernobyl. During the April meeting, the Belarusian and Ukrainian presidents agreed that Belarus would deliver humanitarian aid to all parties to the conflict in Ukraine.
