MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Late on Monday, a truck rammed into a crowd of people at a Christmas market in Berlin. Police previously said nine people were killed and 50 were injured in the incident. A suspected perpetrator has been detained.

"Today, 12 people lost their lives on Breitscheidplatz, 48 are in hospital, some with severe injuries," Berlin police said in its Twitter account.
