What's Behind Deadly Shelling of Russian Hospital in Aleppo
The Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman commented on an attack on a Russian field hospital in Aleppo by Syrian rebels, claiming the lives of 2 Russian medics and 3 local residents.

She said that Moscow condemns the "act of aggression" against the Russian hospital.

Russia expects that those who ordered and carried out the attack on the Russian hospital will be brought to justice, Zakharova said.

"We strongly condemn the act of aggression against the Russian hospital and its staff, we hope that not only the perpetrators of this crime, but also those who ordered it will be severely punished," she said at a briefing in Moscow.

Over a half of eastern Aleppo has been freed by the Syrian army from terrorists, she said.

"The government of Syria continues to work on the coordination with different political forces to achieve national reconciliation," Zakharova said.

According to her, the Assad government is working on local ceasefires in Syria's regions.

Moscow expects the United Nations to be able to carry out its mission of providing humanitarian aid to the Syrian city of Aleppo, she said.

Russia’s Recognition of Taliban as Non-Terrorist Group to Be Helpful
Zakharova said commenting on a statement by Commander of US-NATO forces in Afganistan John Nicholson that Russia is not holding secret talks with the Taliban movement and doesn't support the movement in any way.

Nicholson accused Russia of "legitimization of the Taliban movement." According to the commander, Moscow is allegedly supporting the Taliban, thus undermining US and NATO efforts aimed at the fight against terrorism.

"We have reiterated that Russia does not conduct any negotiations with the Taliban movement and does not provide them with any support. At the same time we believe that a military solution to the Afghan conflict does not exist, and the achievement of peace in the country is possible only through negotiations."

She also said that Russia and Afghanistan reached agreements on the military-technical assistance, including the maintenance of Russian and Soviet helicopters.

Obama Administration Continues 'Witch-Hunt'-Style Anti-Russian Hysteria

Zakharova said that the administration of US President Barack Obama continues a "witch hunt" and anti-Russian hysteria.

"We have to say with regret that with the support of the outgoing administration of Barack Obama, which recently scared the Americans with Russian hackers, Washington continues anti-Russian hysteria created a few years ago and, of course, it is increasingly beginning to look like a seemingly already forgotten past, namely the "witch hunt".

USA Freedom Act Passes US House Vote, Moves to Senate - Sputnik International
US House Approves Bill to Form Panel to Counter Alleged Russian Meddling
Earlier, the US House of Representatives passed a legislation on the establishment of a special inter-ministerial group on "revealing the covert influence" of Russia. This provision is included in the bill on the financing of the intelligence agencies in 2017 year. The document speaks of countering active steps to ensure the Russian secret influence on nations and governments. The bill, in particular, suspects Russia of manipulating media and financing agents of influence. Now, this document must be considered by the Senate.

She said that Russia is not ruling out retaliatory measures should Russian diplomats be banned from leaving diplomatic missions in the United States.

"If current US authorities want to limit the movement of own representatives in Russia, they should take into account that everything in diplomacy is based on reciprocity. I mean that there will be the same attitude toward American diplomats in Russia," she said.

'Detective Story': Russia, US Still Cannot Reach Agreement on Syria
She said that Moscow is puzzled why some countries don't implement agreements on Syria and support actions that run counter to the deal.

"We see that a number of countries, firstly, fail to implement agreements, and secondly, support actions which run counter to the… agreed course. We are puzzled and concerned."

"We understand why they do it: they have their own political and geostrategic plans, which don't portray them in a good light to speak about them," Zakharova said.

European Resolution 'Best Acknowledgment' of Sputnik, RT's Achievements
Maria Zakharova said that the OSCE representative on the freedom of media agreed that the EU parliament resolution against Russian media is politicized.

On November 23, the European Parliament approved a draft resolution equating counteracting Sputnik news agency and RT TV channel with resistance to Daesh propaganda.

The EU Parliament adopted a draft resolution proposed by EU lawmaker from Poland Anna Elzbieta Fotyga on EU strategic communication to counteract propaganda against the bloc by third parties, which says that Russia is allegedly engaged in propaganda against the European Union.

"I would like to say that we received a response from the OSCE representative on the media freedom. In a response letter, the OSCE representative noted the obvious political nature of this document. At the same time, Ms Mijatovic promised … to react immediately to serious cases of member states not fulfilling their corresponding responsibilities," Zakharova said.
