US Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein filed for an election recount in the state of Pennsylvania, her campaign said in a press release on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Monday is the final day to challenge the 2016 presidential election results.

"Dr. Jill Stein's campaign to demand recounts in three states gained momentum today as recount requests were filed by Pennsylvania voters in more than 100 precincts across the state," the release stated. "The campaign expects recount requests to be filed in many more precincts in the Keystone State in the coming days."

Pennsylvania state law allows three people from each precinct to request a recount. Stein’s campaign explained that three voters in each precinct must request a recount in their district.

Pennsylvania has 9,163 voting precincts.

Last week, Stein launched a multimillion dollar crowdfunding campaign to finance recounts in the states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, which Trump won by narrow margins. The Green Party officially requested a recount in Wisconsin on Saturday.

The release noted that Stein has raised $6.5 million of its $7 million goal to cover recount costs.
