Egypt has complied with all recommendations by Russian experts on strengthening security at its airports, Russian Deputy Transport Minister Valery Okulov said Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia suspended flights to and from Egypt after an Airbus A321 plane flying to St. Petersburg crashed on the Sinai Peninsula soon after taking off from Sharm El-Sheikh on October 31, 2015, killing all 224 people aboard.

"All previous recommendations have been met," Okulov told reporters in Moscow.

"We can prepare a new inspection [of security at Egyptian airports] in a week or 10 days," Okulov said adding that the ministry had not yet received an invitation from Cairo.

Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said in October this year that a decision on the resumption of the Egypt-Russia air travel may be taken before the end of 2016.
