10:37 GMT 22.11.2016 (Updated: 10:55 GMT 22.11.2016) The Ukraine-EU summit, due in Brussels on November 24, will discuss the prospects of a new gas package between Russia and Ukraine with mediation from the European Commission (EC) for the upcoming winter, sources familiar with the summit agenda told reporters Tuesday.
BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — About a year ago, Russia and Ukraine, with EC mediation, signed a winter gas package for 2015-2016 at trilateral talks.

"The leaders are expected to consider the prospects of the 2016 winter package as the European Union is still ready to pose as an intermediary in energy security talks between Ukraine and Russia," a high-ranking EU official said.
Another source close to EU leaders told journalists that the talk was about a possible winter package for 2016-2017.
