"During the conference, the participants developed a number of recommendations, which were reflected in a final resolution. Their implementation will enhance the defense capability of the member states' armed forces and improve the CSTO collective security system," the ministry said.
According to the statement, the experts have come to the conclusion that the military-political situation in the Eastern European region was becoming more tense, and there were negative trends in the sphere of international and regional security.
"These factors and some others predetermine the necessity to revise the views and approaches toward the organization of management of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force," the ministry said.
The CSTO, comprising Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan, was set up by former Soviet states in 1992 shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union with the aim to facilitate cooperation and strengthen security in the region. Serbia and Afghanistan have observer status at the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
