A militant from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party was killed Wednesday in an exchange of fire with police in the southern Turkish city of Antalya, local media reported.

ANKARA (Sputnik) — Shooting erupted at roughly 10 p.m. local time (19:00 GMT), the Turkish newspaper Haberturk said, after three PKK fighters reportedly opened fire at police officers in the Konyaalti district.

The operation to neutralize the other two men is underway, according to the news outlet. There were no immediate reports of police casualties.

The shooting comes two days after an attack by unidentified gunmen killed a Turkish gendarme in the same neighborhood.
