NEW YORK (Sputnik) — Russia hopes to receive constructive signals from the new US administration, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.
"It is necessary to wait for constructive signals," Peskov said when asked what should be done to build an atmosphere of reciprocity with the new US president.
"It is clear that no one is seeking complete understanding on all issues. Differences between Moscow and Washington are inevitable. The main thing is to have the political will and be willing to solve all problems through dialogue," he told reporters in New York.
During the election campaign, Trump has been advocating better cooperation with Russia, including on anti-terror fight and the Syrian crisis.
"For now, it is possible to perceive claims we heard from Trump with cautious optimism. He spoke of readiness to listen, to speak. It is important," Peskov told reporters.
