Kentucky and Indiana were projected wins for Trump near instantly. He was also the projected winner of South Carolina. Shortly before 11 p.m. est, Trump was projected as the winner of Florida and Georgia.
Hillary Clinton was the projected winner of Vermont. She is also the projected winning of Virginia after several hours of counting.
Georgia IS currently too close to call.
Marco Rubio is the projected winner of the Senate race in Florida against Democrat Patrick Murphy. On the eve of the election, the RealClearPolitics average of polls gave him a 3.7 point lead. According to FiveThirtyEight, the Democrats had only a 9.6 percent chance of winning this race. Rubio had initially stated that he would not be running for re-election, but changed his mind in June.
Senator Rand Paul was the projected winner in his senate race, and had been consistently leading by 12-16 points — despite being outspent by his opponent Jim Gray by over $1 million on television ads.
In the crucial state of Florida, a Quinnipiac poll conducted the day before the election had Clinton up by just a single point, within the margin of error.
Vice presidential candidate Senator Tim Kaine and his wife Anne Holton voted in Richmond just after 6 a.m.
“We feel good,” Kaine told press gathered at the polling station. “It’s kind of like we’ve done all we can do and now it’s in the hands of the voters. But we feel really comfortable about it.”
Indiana, Kentucky, and South Carolina are all solid red and were expected to be easy wins for Donald Trump. The state of Georgia is normally an easy win for the GOP, but has been questionable for this election.
