The observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States did not receive a clear and satisfactory answer to their question on the number of the polling stations open abroad for the presidential elections in Moldova, the head of the Interparliamentary Assembly CIS Council Secretariat said Sunday.

CHISINAU (Sputnik) — He noted that the 2014 parliamentary elections in Moldova showed that some citizens' rights were probably breached as they either did not have enough time to vote or the stations ran out of the ballots.

"We have not received any clear reply to this question. The CIS mission is not satisfied with the answer," Alexey Sergeev said at a press conference.

Sergeev added that the issue was raised at the meeting of the presidential candidates and the members of the members of Moldovan Central Electoral Commission (CEC).

Sergeev indicated that if similar problems occurred at the presidential elections, it would have to be reflected in the observers' final report.

"If this happens, certainly, we will have to include this aspect in the final report as one of the problematic issues of the Moldovan presidential campaigns."

According to the head of the CEC Alina Russu, establishing the number of the polling stations abroad is beyond the CEC's purview.

Moldovan presidential elections will take place on Sunday.

The Commonwealth of Independent States is a regional organization created after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. The organization includes former Soviet republics except the Baltic States and Georgia.
