Russia will lay down the first Varshavyanka-class Project 636 stealth submarine for the country's Pacific Fleet in 2017, the Admiralty Shipyard's Director General Alexander Buzakov said Wednesday.

ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) — In September, Buzakov said that the shipyard planned to deliver six Varshavyanka-class submarines to the Pacific Fleet by 2021.

"The keel laying ceremony [of the first submarine] will take place in the fall of the next year," Buzakov told reporters.
