MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Hmeymim Syrian opposition group hoped for a change of power to take place in Turkey during late Friday's attempted coup, as this would improve the situation in Syria, Mais Krydee, one of the group's leaders, told Sputnik on Saturday.

"Syrian people have been suffering a lot because of Erdogan's behavior, and last night was very special for us, because we thought it would put an end to our suffering," Krydee said.
