MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The European Commission issued two new statements of objections to US-based Google tech giant on skewing comparison shopping search results in favor of its own content and in breach the European Union's rules, Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager said Thursday.

"Today, we have further strengthened our case that Google has unduly favored its own comparison shopping service in its general search result pages," Vestager said in a statement accompanying her briefing in Brussels.

The company’s alleged abuse of its dominant position prevents users from seeing search results more relevant to their queries, she argued.

"We have also raised concerns that Google has hindered competition by limiting the ability of its competitors to place search adverts on third party websites, which stifles consumer choice and innovation," Vestager added.

The commissioner said she will "carefully" examine Google's response "before deciding how to take both cases forward."
