Portugal First to Reach Euro 2016 Finals

Portugal’s national football team became the first to advance to the finals of the UEFA Euro 2016 championship after defeating Wales 2:0 on Wednesday.

LYON (Sputnik) – Team captain and striker Cristiano Ronaldo’s nine goals throughout the tournament in France, including one on the 50th minute, equaled Michel Platini’s record set in 1984. Vice-captain Nani capped off the dominant performance on the 53rd minute.

With the victory secured in Lyon, Portugal faces off with the winner of the Germany-France match in Paris for the title this Sunday.
