Banning Clean Russian Athletes From Rio Breaches Human Rights - Parliament
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Friday, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) decided against lifting the ban on Russian athletes ahead of 2016 Summer Olympics because of doping accusations of several Russian athletes. Later on Tuesday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is scheduled to hold an emergency summit in the Swiss city of Lausanne to discuss how Russia’s suspension over doping allegations will affect clean athletes.

"It can be said here that nobody is interested in creating such precedents, and [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin is a staunch supporter of the ideas of Olympism, a staunch opponent of anything that may cause damage to these ideas of Olympism," Peskov told reporters.
