US-Led Coalition Conducts 22 Airstrikes Against Daesh in Iraq - CENTCOM
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In Syria, the coalition carried out two airstrikes near the terrorist group’s de facto capital of Raqqa, destroying a crane and front-end loader. Near Manbij, the coalition struck five Daesh units, destroying three vehicles and a bridge, CENTCOM pointed out.

"In Syria, coalition military forces conducted ten strikes using bomber, fighter and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL [Islamic State] targets," the release stated on Wednesday. "Additionally in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 15 strikes coordinated with and in support of the government of Iraq using rocket artillery and fighter and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets."

In Iraq, the coalition carried out 15 airstrikes in eight cities, destroying Daesh vehicles, artillery and tactical units, as well as a modular oil refinery.

Additionally, near Fallujah, three coalition airstrikes hit two Daesh units, destroying the group’s fighting position, a vehicle, front-end loader, weapons cache and heavy machine gun, according to CENTCOM.

Iraqi Security Forces and Shia militias, backed by US airstrikes, launched the offensive to retake Fallujah on May 22.

The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been carrying out airstrikes against Daesh in Syria and Iraq since the summer of 2014. The strikes in Syria are conducted without the approval of the country’s legitimate government or the UN Security Council.
