Kissinger: Ukraine Should be a 'Bridge Between Moscow and the West'
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – In an interview published by the Estonian daily Postimees newspaper on Sunday, McFaul said that Russia's actions need a specific response. He said that the United States needs to curb Russia because its actions forced NATO to counter the threat coming from Moscow. He added that there was no promise given to Russia concerning the alliance’s non-expansion to the East.

Zakharova reminded that just a week ago US former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger told the Russian Mezhdunarodnoe obozrenie (International Review) TV show that there could be some informal remarks made by NATO officials which had been understood by Russia as guaranties of NATO's non-expansion toward east.

"I am not offering you to choose, whom of two US diplomats you should trust, as here we are talking about only one US diplomat. Because diplomacy is a profession based on intelligence and responsibility," Zakharova wrote on Facebook

Michael McFaul, 52, served as US ambassador to Russia in 2012-2014.
