MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Polish authorities enhanced control on Russian-Polish border ahead of July NATO summit, local media reported Friday.

"We were instructed by our superiors to do so," Olsztyn customs department reported, as quoted by Polskie Radio.

Stricter inspection resulted in traffic jams, taking several hours to cross Russian-Polish border, the media outlet said.

According to the Polish Defense Ministry, NATO summit in Warsaw scheduled for July 8-9 will be the largest ever summit of the alliance as Polish capital expects to host more than 2,000 people, including 26 delegations of NATO partners and observers.
