MOSCOW (Sputnik) – French President Francois Hollande is taking part in the Victory Day celebrations at the Arc de Triomphe, one of the world's best-known commemorative monuments in Paris, marking the end of World War II in Europe, local media reported Sunday.
Later in the day, Hollande is also expected to lay a wreath at the monument of General Charles de Gaulle.

After the official ceremonies on the 71st anniversary of victory over fascism, the famous boulevard leading to the Arc de Triomphe, the Avenue des Champs-Elysees will become pedestrian-only zone for the first Sunday in the month, according to Le Monde.
The initiative was put forward by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo in early January.
