US Democratic presidential contender Bernie Sanders explained to NBC on Saturday why he could not sway many poorer US states to vote for him in the primaries, saying poor people do not vote.

Did Bernie Sanders Ever Really Have a Chance?
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Asked why he had lost to his pro-establishment rival, Hillary Clinton, the Vermont senator replied, "Well, because poor people don't vote. I mean, that's just a fact. That's a sad reality of American society."

At this point, most analysts consider Clinton a shoe-in for the Democratic nomination in the US presidential race. NBC estimated that of the 25 US states with the widest income gap, 17 have already voted, 16 of them for Hillary Clinton.

On Saturday, Sanders campaigned in Baltimore ahead of Tuesday’s primaries. He continued to bash the former US State Secretary for being supported by Wall Street bankers.
