450,000 Syrians in Besieged Areas Have Received UN Aid Since January

Since the beginning of 2016, the UN and partners successfully delivered multi-sectoral assistance through inter-agency operations, reaching nearly 451,000 civilians in besieged area in Syria, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA).

GENEVA (Sputnik) — United Nations humanitarian agencies have reached over 450,000 civilians in Syria's besieged areas since the beginning of 2016, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) said on Thursday.

"Since the beginning of 2016, the UN and partners successfully delivered multi-sectoral assistance through inter-agency operations, reaching nearly 451,000 civilians in besieged, hard-to-reach and other… locations," UNOCHA said in a statement.

Out of these 451,000 over 245,000 live in hard-to-reach areas, while 154,300 live in besieged areas, the statement added.
