Kyrgyz President Calls on Lawmakers for Expedited Cabinet Appointment
Kyrgyzstan's President Almazbek Atambayev signed Prime Minister Temir Sariyev’s resignation decree amid a national scandal surrounding violations in a highway construction tender. The decree requires ministers and deputy prime ministers to retain their offices as acting ministers until the formation of a new government.

The cabinet scandal erupted following the publication of highway reconstruction procurement inspection results. The commission uncovered violations in the public tender won by a Chinese roads and bridges company.
