WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The United States is appreciative of Russia’s help securing the release of the American prisoner who was recently released from Syria, US Department of State spokesperson Mark Toner said during a press briefing on Friday.
"We are appreciative of efforts on the part of the Russian government that it undertook on behalf of this US citizen in Syria," Toner stated.
Toner also noted that Russia was in no way involved in the American’s detention and had only been involved in securing the detainee’s release.
