The foreign ministers of the G7 member states are expected to agree at their upcoming meeting to initiate a system whereby airlines would provide the authorities with the information on their ticketed passengers as a preventive anti-terror measure, local media reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Japan to Focus on Fighting Terrorism at G7 April Ministerial Meeting
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On April 10-11, the Japanese city of Hiroshima will host the meeting of the foreign ministers of the G7 member states, comprising the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Canada.

The G7 foreign ministers are expected to agree on a new system to request airlines to provide their passengers' itinerary information to improve the efficiency of their counterterrorism efforts, Kyodo news agency reported, citing its sources, on Sunday.

According to the news agency, the ministerial meeting could also result in a pledge to use Interpol data more thoroughly.

Countries across the globe have been boosting their security measures following a number of high-profile terrorist attacks, such as the ones in Brussels on March 22 and in Paris on November 13 in the face of the threat posed by terrorist groups.
