TOKYO (Sputnik) — Japan plans to focus the April G7 foreign ministers meeting in Hiroshima on the fight against terrorism after the recent Brussels and the November Paris attacks, local media reported Thursday citing government sources.
"Following the terror attacks in Brussels, counterterrorism will be the top agenda item at the foreign ministers’ meeting," a source in the Japanese government told the Kyodo news agency, adding that Tokyo will offer its support to the partners in the wake of the terrorist threat.
Japan also plans to raise the North Korean nuclear issue, abductions of Japanese nationals by Pyongyang and the issue of Crimea.
The foreign ministers of Japan, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and the United States along with the European Council and the European Commission presidents will meet in the Japanese city of Hiroshima for a two-day summit on April 10-11.
