MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia has been conducting airstrikes against terrorist targets in Syria at the request of President Bashar Assad since late September 2015.
Nikolic, who held a meeting with Vladimir Putin earlier in the day, expressed gratitude to the Russian president "for understanding the behavior of Serbia in international relations."
The US-led international coalition has also been carrying out airstrikes against Daesh in Syria since September 2014, without the approval of Damascus or the UN Security Council.
