A source in the police cited by the newspaper Yeni Safak said that the suspect was identified from his fingerprints, and that he was registered in Turkey as a refugee.

Also, the newspaper Sabah reports that the Volkswagen which was used by the bomber was rented in the city of Bursa, and was reported as stolen after it wasn’t returned in time. A subsequent investigation revealed that the car was fitted with a false license plate and moved to Ankara, where it was kept for at least 10 days. Furthermore, CCTV camera footage confirmed that on February 11 the vehicle was spotted near the site of the bombing.

The bombing was carried out on February 17, at a busy crossroad in central Ankara near the country's parliament building at 16:30 GMT. At least 28 people were killed and over 60 were injured by the explosion.

According to the preliminary reports, the perpetrators apparently targeted a vehicle column carrying Turkish military personnel.

So far no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
