BAGHDAD (Sputnik) Iraq is seeking to fully expel all terrorists from its country and gives a high assessment to the support Russia is providing in this issue, Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Jaafari said Thursday.

“The Iraqi government is targeting the conclusion and end to countering the Islamic State, and together with the Iraqi Army, units from the national militia, Peshmerga units having the single goal of the total expulsion of [terrorist] presence on Iraqi soil,” Jaafari said during a bilateral intergovernmental committee meeting with Russian representatives.

“Honestly, 2014-2015 passed under the flag of our fight against terrorism and we highly assess the contributions by our friends in this fight,” Jaafari said during the Iraqi-Russian committee meeting.
