The deputy director of the Sharm el-Sheikh airport denied Thursday reports of an employee being responsible for the Russian A321 plane crash in Egypt.

CAIRO (Sputnik) Earlier in the day, media reports suggested that Russian security services had identified an Egyptian airport employee as a perpetrator of the A321 explosion over the Sinai Peninsula.

"It is not true. Have they questioned anyone to reveal this information right now? If they have any evidence, it should be taken to the commission on crash investigation," Hani Ramzy told RIA Novosti.

The Egyptian Interior Ministry refused to comment on the media reports, adding that it did not have any information on the issue.

On October 31, 2015, the Russia-operated Airbus A321 crashed en route from the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg as a result of an explosion on board. All 224 people on board the plane were killed. The crash has become the largest civil aviation disaster in Russian history. The Islamic State terrorist group, which is outlawed in Russia and many other countries, claimed responsibility for the crash.
