A preliminary 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck southern Alaska, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said early Sunday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Tremors were registered nearly 80 miles deep at the epicenter over 160 miles southwest of Anchorage at 10:30 GMT.

No damages or tsunami warnings have been issued so far.
