Warships of Russia’s Northern Fleet to Sail to South Atlantic in 2016

The warships of Russia’s Northern Fleet's in 2016 will make a series of long-distance sea passages, including to the South Atlantic, the fleet’s Chief of Staff Vice Adm. Nikolai Evmenov said Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the official, heavy aircraft-carrying missile cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov will have in 2016 a special program. She will work at sea on improving skills of the shipborne aircraft pilots.

"There will be new voyages of the warships along the Northern Sea Route to the New Siberian Islands with the calls at a number of ports on the coast of the Arctic Ocean. The sea passages to the Mediterranean and to the more southern latitudes in the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean are also scheduled," Evmenov said.
