MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The 30-year-old claimed he carried a bomb, saying he had been sent by the king of Malaysia to meet important people at the ministry, the district police chief said, as cited by the Star newspaper.
Police chief Superintendent Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif said the suspect had been stopped by guards at the entrance after arriving there in a taxi. The taxi driver fled the car after the man mentioned having a bomb.
He was pulled from the car by a military intelligence officer and handed over to police who said the man was mentally unstable, the outlet said. No bomb or other lethal device was found on the suspect.
Malaysia was put on security alert earlier this month after a string of bomb and gun terror attacks in neighboring Indonesia. The responsibility for the massacre in Jakarta last week was claimed by Daesh militants.
