BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — The proposal to appoint members to the committee of inquiry on emission measurements in the automotive sector was accepted without a vote after no amendments were submitted.
The 45-member commission is expected to have 12 months to look into Volkswagen violations, after it emerged last September that the car-maker had cheated in emissions tests.
Up to 11 million Volkswagen diesel engine vehicles worldwide, manufactured between 2009 and 2015, are estimated to have been fitted with software to help conceal excessive nitrogen oxide emissions.
