TOKYO (Sputnik) – On Wednesday, Pyongyang announced through state-run media that it had successfully tested a nuclear fusion bomb. South Korea plans to restart propaganda loudspeaker broadcasts along the border with the North on Friday following the test.
South Korea has no plans of shutting down the Kaesong industrial complex in response to the test, neither does in plan to recall personnel from the park, a representative of South Korea’s Unification Ministry said on Friday, as quoted by South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency.
According to Yonhap, South Korea has increased its cyber security alert level and is reviewing measures on ensuring the security of its personnel at Kaesong.
The Kaesong complex is a special economic zone on the inter-Korean border, which is jointly run by North and South Korea.
On Thursday, the Kyodo news service reported that South Korea’s Unification Ministry had partially prohibited South Korean citizens from entering the Kaesong industrial park, following Pyongyang's bomb test and that only Korean businesspeople directly linked to manufacture in Kaesong were allowed entry into the area.
North and South Korea are technically in a state of war, as no formal peace treaty was ever signed following the 1950-1953 Korean War.
