Facing "crisis mode" a week after switching delivery service vendors, the Boston Globe newspaper’s union leader has appealed for editorial staff’s help in delivering the Sunday edition to its readers, local media reported.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – "Globe employees will need to be two per car. Please have proof of driver's license and registration," Guild President Scott Steeves was quoted as saying by the Boston Business Journal late Saturday in an email distributed among Globe employees.

"Make sure you have a flashlight and GPS."

Reporters and editors were instructed to gather in the western Boston suburb of Newton at midnight local time to begin the door-to-door distributions.

Up to 10,000 subscribers are estimated to have experienced delivery disruptions since the newspaper switched to ACI Media from an unidentified prior vendor on December 28.

The paper’s CEO Mike Sheehan apologized for the interruptions caused by the adjustment.

Over 100 Globe staff have reportedly volunteered to carry out the deliveries.
