MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Over 90 people went missing after a landslide hit the city of Shenzhen, in Guangdong province on Sunday.
"The landslide is not from a natural mountain, but a huge pile of mud. When one side of the pile is overloaded and the pressure builds up, it pushes the mud on the other side and it spills over," Wang Zhenxin, a former chief engineer at the Shanghai Metro Construction Corporation, said as quoted by the South China Morning Post.
The media added, citing an owner of a local drinks company, that the waste dump had been causing concern of local residents for two years.
