"Now we are planning to begin negotiation process for a new possible treaty or free trade agreement with Israel," Spassky said Monday on the sidelines of the second annual "Doing Business With Eurasian Economic Union" Conference in Washington.
Vietnam became the first country to sign a free trade agreement with the EEU, which includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is also hoping to receive a reply from the European Union to the proposal on developing EEU-EU areas of cooperation:
"It was as I remember on October 14 when we sent this letter directly to Mr. [European Commission President Jean-Claude] Junker, but we haven’t received any official answer yet. But, we hope to receive as soon as possible," Spassky said Monday. "We are ready to speak, to negotiate, conditions of our cooperation."
The European Commission (EC) press officer for trade confirmed to Sputnik in October that the EC had received a letter and was thinking the offer over.
Spassky explained that the proposal consisted of some directions, ideas on how to cooperate in different spheres, how to begin consultations between the business and the officials, and stressed that it was necessary to build the cooperation process step by step.
The EEU, which came into force on January 1, aims to achieve the free flow of goods, services, capital and labor across its member states.
