Russian Northern Fleet Carries Out Counterterrorism Training

The drills included the liberation of buildings from terrorists and defense of strategically important objects among other tasks.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The garrisons of Russia’s Northern Fleet carried out counter-terrorism exercises on Friday, the fleet’s spokesman said.

"The servicemen of the counterterrorist units trained practical action for the liberation of buildings from terrorists, for defense of strategically important objects, for detection, encirclement and disposal of illegal armed groups within the territories of the garrisons of the fleet," Сapt. 1st Rank Vadim Serga said.

According to Serga, the exercises are being carried out in close cooperation with the Russian Federal Security Service, as well as with the interior and emergency ministries.
