MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Ukraine will receive demining equipment worth $2.5 million from Canada, Ukraine's defense ministry press statement said on Friday.
"On November 28, 2015, the Canadian military attache's representative will deliver $2.5-million worth of mine clearance equipment to the Ukrainian side," the statement said.
Canada's new Liberal government expressed its support for Ukraine's sovereignty and integrity early November, according to Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko's press office.
The Ukrainian government has been conducting a military operation in the country's eastern regions since April 2014. Over 8,000 have died in the conflict, including some 2,500 civilian casualties, according to the UN. The peace process has been codified in the Minsk II package, signed in February.
