ANKARA (Sputnik) — On Tuesday, Tsipras arrived in Turkey to meet the country’s leadership in order to discuss bilateral relations and migration crisis.

"Today, some 650,000 refugees found shelter in our country. But some of these people could be dangerous for the countries where they will end up. Refugee identification centers could be created for this purpose," Tsipras said.

He added that Greece and Turkey agreed on working up a question of creation such centers to cope with the influx of undocumented refugees.

Hundreds of thousands of refugees flee war-torn regions of the Middle East and North Africa to reach the European Union. They use Turkey and Greece as transit states en route to wealthy EU states, especially Germany.

The EU border agency Frontex estimates that over 1.2 million illegal crossings have been detected at the bloc's borders since the beginning of the year.
