MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Moscow hopes that international organizations, such as the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), will pay attention to Riga's neglectful attitude to the media work, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Saturday.
"On October 22, the National Electronic Media Council in Latvia decided to fine the Russian First Baltic Channel for alleged ‘one-sided’ coverage of Ukrainian events. The use of repressive measures against the media demonstrates what is the worth of demagogic statements by the Latvian authorities on the commitment to democratic values, freedom of speech and expression," the statement read.
Moscow expects "Riga’s neglect of the fundamental principles of media work will not go unnoticed by international specialized organizations, in particular the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media."
