Hungarian Defense Minister Istvan Simicsko did not accuse Russia of contributing to the influx of refugees to Europe with its actions in Syria, the ministry said Monday.

PRAGUE (Sputnik) — Simicsko allegedly made accusations against Russia on the sidelines of the meeting of NATO member states' defense ministers in Brussels on Thursday, Czech Defense Minister Martin Stropnicky said in an interview published Saturday by the Czech newspaper Mlada fronta Dnes.

"Hungarian Defense Minister Istvan Simicsko did not say there [on the sidelines of the meeting in Brussels] what his Czech counterpart attributes to him," the Hungarian defense ministry said in a statement, as quoted by the Hungarian news website Index.

Hungary Urges US-Led Coalition to Cooperate With Russia in Anti-ISIL Fight
Reports on the possible increase of migration pressure on Europe as a result of Russia's anti-ISIL air campaign in Syria surfaced as NATO defense ministers discussed Russia's participation in the Syrian conflict, the ministry said.

Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that any allegations of Russia's involvement in increasing the ongoing refugee influx to Europe were unfounded.
