The protests, organized by several major activist groups were held on Saturday outside over 300 clinics in all 50 states and Washington, DC, according to multiple social media reports.

The activists demanded to stop funding the clinics and shut them down. Meanwhile, the pro-life supporters believed there should be more funding for humane abortion alternatives, such as adoption.

In 2013, Planned Parenthood received 45 percent of its funding from the US government through $540 million in grants, according to the organization’s 2012-2013 annual report.

Planned Parenthood has more than 700 clinics all across the country and facilitates approximately 81,000 abortions annually, according to its website.
