Afghan Security Forces Kill Senior ISIL Commander

Afghan security forces killed a senior Islamic State extremist group commander, along with four fighters during an operation in the southern Helmand Province, a spokesman for local police said Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — There were no casualties among the servicemen involved in the raid on the militants' hideout, Shah Mahmood Ashna said, as cited by the Iranian Press TV.

Islamic State has seized large areas in Syria and Iraq in recent years. Militant groups affiliated with ISIL operate in Afghanistan, Libya, Nigeria and Egypt, among other countries.
