EU Commission Strives to Reach Greek Debt Deal by August 20

The European Commission is working hard to reach a comprehensive agreement on a third bailout package for Greece before August 20, the commission's spokeswoman said Friday.

BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — On August 20, the Greek government is due to repay $3.2 billion to the European Central Bank (ECB), one of its major creditors.

"Our experts on the ground are working on the text of the memorandum of understanding. And as you know we are trying to make swift progress in order to have a deal before August 20, so that the disbursement can be made under the new ESM program," Mina Andreeva said at a press briefing.
